Experience Easter with us on the Mendip Hills!
This Easter our Volunteer Rangers are leading two guided walks so you can explore the best bits of the AONB without the worry of route-planning and navigation. The Rangers have a wealth of knowledge of the landscape, wildlife and heritage of the Mendip Hills to share with you. And, they'll be some surprises thrown in along the way!

Sunday 25 March – Mendip Minerals through the Ages
What are all those lumps and bumps in the ground around Charterhouse? The walk will explore how over thousands of years people have been exploiting the mineral wealth of Mendip (and some other bits of local history as well!) A 5 mile walk from the Blackmoor Reserve taking in Velvet Bottom, Longwood and Black Down.
Monday 2 April – Harptree History, Woods and Views
You'll see the fantastic views over the Chew Valley and delve into Harptree Combe, the site of a Norman Castle and Smitham Chimney – the only Victorian lead smelting chimney still standing in the South West. A 5 ½ mile walk from East Harptree Woods.
