Save the Children Friday Lunches

Save the Children Friday Lunches were started in Shipham in 1984, to increase awareness of and to provide financial support for this worthy organisation. The Lunch Bunch has been meeting on alternate Fridays ever since, providing a light lunch of soups, with locally sourced bread and butter, cheese and pickles, and tea or coffee with a homemade biscuit. We currently meet in Shipham Village Hall.

Our two highlights of the year are Good Friday (when we cater for walkers from the Cross Walk) and Christmas when we enjoy hearing and singing carols. Sometimes we offer jars of home-made marmalade, jams and pickles for sale, and on special occasions we have home-made soups and other delicacies.

The cost of £4.00 per head includes entry into a raffle, with all proceeds going to Save the Children. In 2017 we were able to give away over £2000, but would like to give more. Numbers have fallen in recent years, and we would welcome new diners and more helpers. Our doors are open to everyone, so why not come along to enjoy lunch in good company, and to support Save the Children?

Due to the uncertainty over the current pandemic, we decided to postpone the start of lunches in 2022 until the 4th February. We look forward to seeing you again then.
